Annual Performance Summary 2006/2007
We are pleased to introduce the Council’s Annual Report for 2006/2007.
This document provides a summary of the Council’s performance between April 2006 and March 2007 and contains a summary statement of accounts for the same period.
We have made significant improvements over the last year, improving performance across a range of services, exceeding the efficiency targets set for us by the Government and improving customer satisfaction in many key services. This report sets out how we will continue to improve, and how we will work with partners and local communities over the next year towards a more healthy, prosperous and attractive Borough, with strong communities. Our major challenge over the next couple of years will be working with Durham County Council and the other District Councils to deliver a new unitary authority for County Durham. We have developed plans to ensure that we play a full part in the development of the new authority whilst honouring key commitments to local communities set out in our Corporate Plan. We will be publishing our Transition Plan in due course and regular updates will be available on our website and in our community magazine over the next year.
