How do I claim?
If you claim Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance or Pension Credit, the Department for Work and Pensions or Pension
Service will give you a form for you to claim Housing and or Council Tax Benefit. Fill in the form and send it to
us straight away.
You do not have to be claiming any of the above to claim Housing and/or Council Tax, if you are on a low income you
may also qualify.
If you are the tenant of a private landlord you will also need to fill in a Housing Benefit Property / Tenancy Details
Form.
You can claim immediately in the “online
claims” section of this website
Customer Services Officers will assist you to complete the online claim form by telephone, or at Council offices. When
it is possible, an Officer will help you to complete the online claim form at your home. A paper claim form can be sent out
to your home or you can collect one from the places listed below if you still wish to complete it by hand. Please note that
online claims arrive within the hour whereas paper forms are delayed by the postal system and they then take a further two
days to be imaged. It will therefore speed up your claim if you complete it online.
