How Is Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit Paid?

Housing Benefit can be paid in several ways.

If you are a council tenant, your Housing Benefit will be paid directly to your rent account.

If you are a private sector tenant: -

• We can make payment to you by cheque or direct to your landlord by BACS
• We are currently arranging for all payments to be made into bank accounts by BACS

Council Tax Benefit is credited directly to your Council Tax account. It is credited in advance until the following April (the start of the new financial year)
