Partnership Working

Our Aim

The Benefits Service aims to promote the take up of Benefits such as Housing and Council Tax Benefit and Second Adult Rebate.

Nationally, everyone who may be entitled to them is not claiming these Benefits.

Sedgefield Borough Council Benefits Section is working with other agencies such as the Citizens Advice Bureau, the Pension Service, and Durham County Welfare Rights, to promote benefit take up in the borough of Sedgefield.

Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit

Both Benefits are available to people on low income. Housing benefit provides help towards the cost of rent and Council Tax Benefit reduces the amount of Council Tax to be paid.

You may be losing out!

If you are struggling to pay your rent and/or Council Tax because you have a low income, you could qualify for help. Sedgefield Borough Council may be able to pay part or all of it for you.
