Rent Restrictions
If you are not a council tenant, the Council will need to seek the advice of the Rent Officer before deciding how much housing
benefit you can receive.
The Rent Officer will advise the Council on the level of rent that is appropriate for your accommodation and whether
your accommodation is the right size for your family needs.
The Council is bound by the decision of the Rent Officer and in some cases the rent used in your housing benefit assessment
will be less than your full rent i.e. restricted.
Pre-tenancy determination
If you would like to know the rent level that will be used in your housing benefit assessment before you enter into a tenancy
agreement you can apply for a pre-tenancy determination.
