The Licensing Service
The Council's Licensing Team is located within the Neighbourhood Services Department.
Officers are responsible for administrating and enforcing legislation relating to taxis, public entertainments, street collections, lotteries, and gaming machines. The licensing team also deals with all matters relating to the Licensing Act 2003. From the 1 September 2007, the team will also be responsible for matters relating to the Gambling Act 2005

The objective of the Licensing Team is to maintain and improve the standards of public safety relating to licensed premises, persons, and vehicles. This is achieved by the balanced use of enforcement and education in relation to the appropriate legislation.
Should you wish to speak to a licensing officer you can do so by telephoning (01388) 816166 or by visiting the Council Offices by prior appointment between the hours of 9am and 12 noon and 2pm and 4pm Monday to Thursday. On site visits can also be arranged wherever necessary.
