Local Plan

The Sedgefield Borough Local Plan was adopted by the Borough Council in October 1996. It is for the period until 2006.

The Local Plans Document is available for you to read online. The document has been split into the main sections and you can navigate to them using the links below. At the moment we are unable to make the Proposals Map accessible in this way. These can be viewed at the Council Offices in Spennymoor or at libraries throughout the Borough.

Alternatively, you can purchase a copy of the Local Plan, which includes the set of 4 Proposals Maps covering the whole Borough for £40 + £3.50 P&P (or for £20 + P&P if you are a local resident).

Please make cheques payable to 'Sedgefield Borough Council' and post to:
Department of Planning & Technical Services, Planning Section, Council Offices, Spennymoor, Co. Durham, DL16 6JQ.

The Local Plan is also accompanied by a series of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) , which provide more detailed advice on a number of specific issues relating to development, such as open space requirements and the design of new developments. SPGs are sent out automatically with purchases of the Local Plan.
